Hot Hot Heat

This week the SFBG YCC Crew started their work at the Lenora Curtin Wetland Preserve where the temperatures rise to the low nineties by noon. Luckily there is plenty of shade to work beneath as the hours roll on by however there’s no denying that it is  too  hot.  Anyone living in New Mexico this past year can attest to the uncharacteristically dry winter and spring. It was basically all anyone could talk about. Discussing the weather became more than a cliche conversation starter but a real topic of urgency. As we work to restore the wetland ecosystem we are feeling the affects of the dryness and the heat that seem to be more intense due to the lack of moisture in the air and in the ground.  However there is certainly value in experiencing these extremes. It’s easy to ignore the changing weather patterns when your spending all day in an air conditioned office but there is no real way of hiding from the elements when you are in them.
